Crystal Palace squashed Man United 3-1

Crystal Palace defeated Manchester United in its first Premier League game with 3-1. This match featured a converted retaken penalty backed by an intervention by VAR.

Manchester United's players were sluggish throughout after a minuscule and fragmented preseason. The reason behind their behavior was Wilfred Zaha's two second-half goals which made Crystal Palace win at Old Trafford for a second straight season.

Zaha's first goal was preceded from the penalty spot after the referee instructed a spot-kick to be retaken. This happened due to the intrusion from David de Gea, United goalkeeper before he saved Jordan Ayew's attempt. David De Gea didn't have at least one foot on the goal line when Ayew smashed his shot.

This finally made it 2-0 in the 74th minute. However, Zaha placed the third goal in the 85th which made Crystal Palace win the opening round of EPL.
