David strikes as nine‑man Chile collapse in narrow Canadian win

Canada defeated Chile 1‑0 thanks to Jonathan David’s sharp finish, in a match where the visitors imploded and finished with nine men. Jesse Marsch’s side began with relentless intensity, hemming Chile inside their own half. Cyle Larin forced Lawrence Vigouroux into an early save before David reacted quickest to a loose ball, guiding a left‑footed effort into the net. Chile responded through long‑range attempts from Dario Osorio and Gonzalo Tapia, both denied by Dayne St. Clair.

The game turned chaotic before halftime. Gabriel Suazo was booked, Tapia had a goal ruled out for offside, and Lucas Cepeda was sent off moments later. Despite the setback, César Pérez nearly equalised with a rising strike. Any hope of recovery vanished when Suazo received a second yellow card early in the second half.

Canada controlled the remainder but failed to extend their lead, relying on St. Clair’s late save from Francisco Salinas to secure the win.
