The press and people in Spain have very little memory, they forget that Vicente del Bosque has been the main responsible for two of Spain's three most impressive achievements of the last decade. They don't give him the credit he deserves, this is proved by all the backlash he keeps getting for not calling up every single player they demanded through the written press or TV. The Spaniard knows that he can't become a crowd pleaser and that there will always be someone he didn't think about for whom he will be criticized.
Case and point is Fernando Torres, who is having a dream final stage of his career, he is currently on the brink of winning his second Champions League in a row and playing as if he was still 25 years old. But this wasn't enough for Del Bosque who left him out of the list for the European Championship. But Torres' exclusion wasn't the only reason the press and the fans disagreed with Del Bosque, he also left out Diego Costa and most of all, Valencia striker Paco Alcacer who actually gave Spain their ticket to the Euros.
During an interview he said: "The list is not perfect, we are sure that there are players who deserve to be here by their great season, but I leave it clear that I have no sympathy when choosing. I am fully confident that we have the best group. Now we must prepare in the best way. There are 11 or 12 that were not in Brazil, which speaks well of the renewal we are having and what we want is to adapt. We have no obligation to be champion, but we dream that we could be."
