Dimitri Payet’s double helps Marseille beat Reims 3-1

Marseille continues their path to a revival with a new coach Jorge Sampaoli and beat Reims by 3-1 in Serie A on Friday. After their free fall, Marseille is slowly and steadily climbing positions and claimed their fifth win off 7 matches leaving them fifth on the table, the last place for Europa League qualification through Lens are just two points behind and would play hosts to Nimes on Sunday.

Reims started the match by going ahead first with Nathanael Mbuku’s header in the 38th minutes. Three minutes later Arkadiusz Milik set up Dimitri Payet to level the score. Reims were unable to maintain their 9 matches unbeaten run when they saw Wout Faes being sent off in the 69th minute. Payet took advantage and struck again in the 76th minute scoring his 7th goal of the season leaving Reims 11th on the table.
