Dortmund crushed by Mainz

On a crucial day for the relegation struggle, Mainz defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-0 to move out of the Bundesliga's bottom three. At kickoff, Mainz, who had secured a relegation playoff spot, surprised the visiting team by scoring three goals in the first twenty-three minutes of play. After Leandro Barreiro's first goal in minute twelve, the hosts took advantage of a significantly altered Dortmund team with two goals in three minutes from Lee Jae-sung.

With an eight games unbeaten streak since their 8-1 loss to Bayern Munich in March, Mainz should easily be able to win a spot in the German top flight with just a point from their season finale at Wolfsburg. Dortmund is currently four points behind RB Leipzig in fourth position after they drew 1-1 against Werder Bremen earlier on Saturday.
