Dortmund won exciting "Battle of the Borussias"

Borussia Dortmund took a major step forward in their push for European qualification with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park.

The win propelled the Black and Yellows past Augsburg, Mönchengladbach, and Werder Bremen into seventh place in the Bundesliga standings.

Niko Kovac’s side didn't get the ideal start to the “Battle of the Borussias”, as Ko Itakura gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute. But Dortmund responded with a stunning 10-minute blitz before halftime. Goals from Serhou Guirassy, Felix Nmecha and Daniel Svensson turned the match on its head and gave the hosts a 3-1 advantage at the break.

Kevin Stöger pulled one back for Mönchengladbach from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, but Dortmund stayed composed and saw out the game to secure a vital three points.
