After overcoming Nice 1-0 on Thursday night, Elfsborg has every chance to advance to the European Championship playoffs. In Thursday night's European Championship football match against Nice, Elfsborg thought that the snowy conditions would aid them. There was no snow or goals in the first half, but flurries started to fall after the interval. Next came the objective. To the immense delight of the home fans, Gustav Henriksson, a central defender, was able to tip in Elfsborg's 1-0 goal on a corner with little over an hour remaining.
The margins were in favour of Elfsborg, despite Nice's best efforts to equalise. Nice had not lost a single away game throughout the European Championship league play. Not least because of goalie Isak Pettersson, who among other things was able to deflect a powerful shot against the crossbar, and goal scorer Henriksson, who was perfectly positioned on the goal line and used his chest to block the ball from entering.
