EPL: Pochettino could face ban after squaring up to referee

It was an afternoon to forget for Tottenham as they went down 2-1 to struggling Burnley, missing out on the chance to move within two points of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

After the match, Mauricio Pochettino approached referee Mike Dean, before appearing to take exception to something that one of the officials had said to him, enraging the Argentine.

Spurs were unhappy with the award of the corner that led to Burnley's opener as it appeared to come off Phil Bardsley's foot as opposed to Jan Vertonghen's. Apparently, the anger not only occurred on the pitch, but it continued into the tunnel.

It is likely that the English referee will include Pochettino's behaviour in the minutes of the game and the Spurs coach will, in all likelihood, face a ban from the FA, who are often very protective of their officials.
