Erik ten Hag is eyeing three defenders

The Manchester United centre back shortlist for 2024 still includes Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old Everton defender has recently been linked to Real Madrid, but insiders have revealed that United will also keep an eye on him come summer transfer season. Along with Antonio Silva of Benfica and Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice, he is being pursued in an effort to raise the calibre and prominence of the first squad this season.

Although United does not intend to make any purchases this month, they do want to significantly restructure the roster come summertime. Many United players are currently facing uncertain futures, and Raphael Varane's departure from the team is one of the key defensive positions that might become available. His present deal expires after this season, thus he is debating whether to arrange a transfer or sign a new contract on lower terms.
