Espanyol held back Barcelona in a four goal thriller

Barcelona, the fourth-ranked team in La Liga held back Espanyol in a two-goal draw. Luuk de Jong saved a point for the Spanish Giants on Sunday night by rescuing the side with a fashionably late goal against Espanyol. Pedri had given Barca an early lead at the start of the match but Sergi Darder equalised just 40 minutes in and later Darder set up Raul de Tomas at the hour’s mark.

Barca is still 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid but did edge out Atletico Madrid with a better goal difference. Barcelona was looking desperate on the field, de Jong even went offside once but came back to score once. Real Betis pulled ahead of the Giants with the 4-2 win against last-place Levante on Sunday.
