In praise of his Everton team's performance against Brighton, Jordan Pickford reminded the Brighton players that there are still three "cup finals" left. Everton's 5-1 thrashing of Brighton at the Amex gave Pickford's team new life in their fight against the drop. The Blues have not triumphed since the middle of March. Dwight McNeil and Abdoulaye Doucoure both scored hat tricks, while Jason Steele also scored an own goal. The victory lifts the Blues out of the relegation zone and puts them ahead of Leeds United and Leicester City in the standings.
Everton's struggle to score goals thus far this season has received a lot of attention. However, the good news is that the Blues have scored eight goals in four games since Dominic Calvert-Lewin returned at the end of the previous month.
