Everton turn to shock solution: Jamie Vardy

Everton’s chaotic end to the transfer window has left David Moyes facing an unprecedented shortage in attack, with only Thierno Barry available as a natural centre‑forward in a squad reduced to eighteen outfield players. The club, according to The Sun, is now exploring an emergency option: signing free agent Jamie Vardy. Everton had banked on replacing Beto, sold at the deadline, but late negotiations for Folarin Balogun, Joshua Zirkzee and Iliman Ndiaye collapsed in rapid succession.

Incoming moves, including Jack Grealish and Brennan Johnson, have not solved the structural issue, as Johnson can only partially cover centrally. Vardy, recently departed from Cremonese and eager to return closer to home, offers experience, leadership and proven scoring instincts. Despite interest from Wrexham, he has held out for a final top‑level challenge. For Moyes, adding Vardy at zero cost could stabilise the attack and prevent the season from unravelling before it truly begins.
