Second-half goals from Aminu Mohammed, Richard Danso and Charles Boateng secured WAFA their first away win in nine premier league matches as Coach Richard Asante Boateng suffered a defeat on his premier league debut for boyhood club Liberty Professionals.
Brilliant WAFA bounce on Liberty’s weak defense
WAFA who haven’t won away since their 1-2 win at the Dr Ndoum Stadium on 9th April 2017 deserve to win at the Carl Reindorf pushing the scientific soccer lads into making errors and punishing them to pull off a shocking week two results.
A mistake from Goalkeeper Ganiwu Shaibu enabled Aminu Mohammed to score his second goal of the season after getting the opener for WAFA in Week one against Kotoko. Aminu got the opener after Liberty’s defense failed to clear a corner and Ganiwu palms the ball into the waiting path of Aminu Mohammed for the opener in the 50th minute.
Liberty who were better defensively in the first half left that defensive responsibility in the dressing room after recess and continue to chase the game leaving gaps at the back of their defense.
Coach Reggae made his first substitute of the game in the 57 minute bringing on Michael Ampadu for Nasiru Zakaria Banahene but that fail to ignite the scientific soccer lads in any meaningful attack, same can't be said for coach Rasmussen who brought on Augustine Boakye and Richard Danso for Daniel Agloe and Justice Amate respectively in the 64 minute
It took Richard Danso only five minutes to double WAFA’s lead with a well taken goal smashing home a beautifully chested Ibrahim Fofana ball.
It’s was a day of super subs for Ramsmussen as his final substitute Charles Boateng slotted home the third goal for his side after coming on for Aminu Mohammed and combining with Richard Danso nail the Dansoman lads.
Brite Andoh manage to get a consolation goal for Liberty in the 89th minute after heading home a beautiful cross from Willaim Dankyi. It was too late as the damage has already be caused by the Sogakope youngsters.
The results means Liberty are bottom the log but have a game in hand against Champions Aduana in Dormaa. The travel to cape caoast in match week 3 to face off with Inter Allies on Wednesday.
