Long gone are those days of glory when Radamel Falcao Garcia played for Atletico Madrid and impressed the whole world, he even got compared in the same category as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. But as soon as he left the Colchoneros everybody realized that his main strength lied in the manager he had with the Spanish club. Diego Pablo Simeone can turn an average player into a world superstar, that's an ability very few managers in the world have.
Falcao spoke to Four Four Two about the coach he selects as the most influential throughout his career, his response was quite obvious: "Simeone is a really passionate coach, obsessed with the littlest details. He’s a great motivator and above all else he’s constantly motivating and supporting his players. It’s difficult to say [whether Atleti would have succeeded without him], but we’re proof of what he’s done. Under him, Atletico have reached an incredible high level in European football and he’s known how to keep that going."
Although it's nearly impossible to get Falcao back to his old form, it's nice to remember the amazing moments he gave football and the fans when he played for River Plate, Porto and Atletico Madrid. During those times he managed to maintain his top level, but his fall out proves that only Ronaldo and Messi will be able to stay at that level until they actually retire from the sport. Falcao owes a great deal of what he is to Diego Simeone.
