FC Midtjylland has officially signed 31-year-old striker Mikael Uhre from Philadelphia Union on a three-and-a-half-year deal. Uhre, formerly of Brøndby where he won the 2021 Danish title and topped the scoring charts with 19 goals, returns to Denmark after a successful stint in the MLS. During his time in Philadelphia, he recorded 43 goals and 28 assists in 155 appearances.
Sports Director Kristian Bach Bak has praised the signing, noting that Uhre fits their strategy perfectly. He highlighted Uhre’s proven goal-scoring ability and his hungry, experienced mindset as key assets for the team's future development.
Uhre expressed excitement about the club's long-term project and their sporting ambitions. Having previously tasted success in the Superliga and Europa League, he is eager to win more championships and compete in various European tournaments. "I want to win as much as possible," the striker stated, confirming his immediate interest when the transfer offer arrived.
