Feyenoord defeated Benfica 3-1

Feyenoord defeated Benfica 3-1 at Estadio do Luz thanks to two goals from Antoni Milambo. After the first three matchdays, the Eredivisie team tied their opponents on six points thanks to a goal from Ayase Ueda. In the 12th minute, Igor Paixao cut the ball back for Ueda to slot in, giving Feyenoord the lead.

The visitors increased their advantage on 33 minutes when Milambo deftly slid past Nicolas Otamendi before converting, after the Japan international's second goal was disallowed after a VAR review. Midway through the second half, Timon Wellenreuther parried Jan-Niklas Beste's shot straight to Kerem Akturkoglu, who made no mistake from close range, giving Benfica, who had started the season with back-to-back victories, a goal back. Before Milambo's second goal of the game in stoppage time clinched the points, Wellenreuther produced shrewd saves to thwart the home team as they attempted to equalize.
