In recent years, Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez has never really had the necessary patience to keep a manager and let him have the proper process. Since he arrived back to his second spell as the main authority for Real Madrid, he has sacked four managers including some of the best in football history. To Florentino it didn't matter if Carlo Ancelotti had won the Champions League one year before he didn't win a single trophy in 2015, no results meant the axe for the Italian manager.
But perhaps the best thing for Real Madrid was to keep Ancelotti, who had achieved a certain level of trust with the players that no other manager had accomplished with this generation os professionals. But that is in the past and today, all that matters is that Zinedine Zidane gets the results they need in order to keep the trust of the president. But to former Real Madrid player and Zizou's friend Luis Figo, having patience with Zidane is key for him to succeed with Los Blancos. The Portuguese fears that Florentino makes the same mistakes he has made in the past.
Talking to El Mundo, Figo said: "I am very happy for Zidane that he is Madrid coach, both as a former team-mate and as a friend. He is very shy but a super honest person and a very good professional. He's a great friend and a symbol of Real Madrid. I think him becoming Madrid coach was a natural process. He always wanted to become a coach. I hope that he will remain Madrid coach for many more years, but the position of coach at Madrid is very unstable and it always depends on results. They change coaches a lot of times."
