Filipe compares Atletico with Leicester City

Atletico Madrid has come a long way from being one of the slightly above average teams in Europe, to becoming one of the most respected sides in the world. Today, the biggest underdog story in recent football history is theirs, but there is another team that will fight to take that title from them next season when they also play for the Champions League: English club Leicester City. The Foxes are reliving what Atletico went through two seasons ago, when they became the title contender against all odds and surprised everyone by taking La Liga title away from Barcelona.

For Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, compering both sides is something that comes natural because all the Atletico players are feeling identified with the soon to be Premier League champions. For Filipe, being a team that understands the collective comes before any individual is key for them to succeed. There lies their best virtues as a competitive side and as long as they understand that, they will continue to write new golden pages in their history whilst playing the Champions League next season. Talking to the press last Tuesday before the match against Bayern Munich, Luis shared his opinion on the Foxes.

"Look at what is happening this year with Leicester, they are a modest team and are almost champions in the Premier League. Epic things happen in football. Although there's a difference in our budgets we are the team that plays most as a team. We don't have a megastar, we have a team where everyone runs, everyone fights for the player next to them, and that makes us stronger. The team thinks a lot collectively, nobody thinks individually, that's the most positive things that we have. We've had a lot of bad and good moments in the season and now we are stable, we have players who are getting better and better."
