AS Monaco have swiftly secured Sebastien Pocognoli’s successor, with press confirming that Filipe Luis will take over from the 2026‑27 campaign. The former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea left‑back has agreed a contract until June 2028, a move considered surprising given interest from several European clubs. At 40, Filipe Luis returns to Europe with a strong managerial record, having won the Brazilian Cup, the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Libertadores during his successful spell at Flamengo.

His achievements drew attention from Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen, but Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro convinced him to lead the club’s new project. After a disappointing seventh‑place finish in Ligue 1, Monaco view his arrival as a clear statement of intent.

Renowned for his progressive, attacking philosophy and fierce winning mentality, Filipe Luis is expected to bring renewed energy and direction as the Principality side aim to reestablish themselves among France’s leading contenders.
