Fiorentina boosted their standing in the bottom half of the Serie A table with three points after defeating Hellas Verona 2-1 and stayed above the relegation zone. Dusan Vlahovic’s penalty in the first half first put them ahead, and later Martin Caceres’ goal put them ahead by two goals until Eddie Salcedo's header pulled one back for Hellas Verona late in the second half. Verona remains in the mid-zone but lost their sixth match in seven games.
While the first half of the match was leading towards a goalless draw until Fiorentina broke the deadlock at halftime and the team found their first win under coach Giuseppe after one draw and two losses under him. Fiorentina would now face Juventus who are fighting for a top-four finish this season.
