Fiorentina overpower Spezia, 2-1

Vincenzo Italiano’s side was off to a great start with the 3-2 win over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia on Thursday and kept the winning momentum going with an important win over Spezia in Serie A. Fiorentina scored two goals with Krzysztof Piatek and Sofyan Amrabat as the side stayed in form and overpowered Spezia. The Ligurian side secured ten points from the last five matches while they enjoy a five-point gap to the relegation zone.

Spezia was on top at the start but Fiorentina turned the tide in their favour when they earned a penalty at the 17th minute while Piatek missed the opportunity as Thiago Motta’s side defended well. Piatek did not forget his botched attempt to score and came back in the 42nd minute to redeem himself with the opening goal. Spezia made a number of changes in the second half to finally see Kevin Agudelo level the score. But Amrabat’s knock into the bottom left corner put Fiorentina ahead.
