For La Volpe, the badge doesn't win matches

On the very year of their 100 years of history, Mexican side Club America didn't really start the season as everyone expected but they managed to compose the twisted start by reaching the Liga MX final and all set to play the Club World Cup semifinal after beating Korean side Jeonbunk Hyundai. This earned them a spot to play Zinedine Zidane's side and a unique opportunity to defeat the best club in the world on their 100 years celebration, Argentine manager Ricardo La Volpe thinks anything is possible.

He told the press that: "We know all about Real Madrid, we know about their players and they will play more loosely against us. It was a test that we simply had to pass, I saw us play with a great attitude, the players gave everything and that is important. We know how difficult these matches will be, nobody gives you anything in this tournament but my players have shown strength, character and heart to move forward from our elimination last year."

To end his challenge to the current Champions League winners, La Volpe closed by saying: "The badge on the shirt does not win matches but rather the players wearing them. We will talk with the squad and figure out how to double our efforts if we want to win but it is clear it will be harder for us."
