France advanced confidently to the Round of 16 with a commanding 3-0 victory over Sweden, controlling the match from the opening whistle. Kylian Mbappé set the early tone, finishing sharply inside the box to give his side a deserved lead. Sweden struggled to settle, frequently losing duels and failing to build sustained possession against France’s intensity. Michael Olise proved decisive throughout, drifting into dangerous spaces and repeatedly unpicking the Swedish defence with incisive passing. His influence grew as France doubled their advantage, supplying another precise assist that Bradley Barcola converted clinically.
Sweden’s back line remained stretched by France’s pace and fluid movement, and Mbappé later added his second goal to seal the result. Mike Maignan preserved the clean sheet with a crucial stop on Viktor Gyokeres, denying Sweden a lifeline. Late Swedish changes brought brief energy, but France’s control never wavered as they turned focus toward Paraguay.
