Frankfurt crush Galatasaray 5-1

In their Champions League opening on Thursday, hosts Eintracht Frankfurt overcame a 2-0 down to defeat Galatasaray 5-1 with four goals in 29 minutes. After Leroy Sane's assist in the eighth minute, Yunus Akgun completed the move to put the Turks ahead of Frankfurt on the break. The only player in Champions League history to play for four or more clubs and score or assist on his debut for each of them is Germany international Sane, who arrived from Bayern Munich this season.

Frankfurt, playing in the Champions League main round for the second time, had a hard time getting past Galatasaray's defence until Akgun made a defensive blunder in the 37th minute. The Japanese winger's effort was deflected in for an own goal by Davinson Sanchez after Ritsu Doan leaped and rushed into the box.
