A little more than a month after Danilo had negotiated a return to Brazil, Ge reported that Fulham was trying to get him back to the Premier League. Botafogo rejected a €30 million deal from the Cottagers for the former Nottingham Forest player.
Danilo joined Nottingham at the beginning of 2023 after rising through the levels at Palmeiras and earning a reputation for himself while playing for their first team. He participated in 62 games throughout his tenure at the English club and even helped score 10 goals. Despite having an outstanding start to his Premier League career, he missed much of last season due to an ankle injury. The Tricky Trees ultimately made the decision to profit off him. Botafogo was eager to strengthen their defence, so they seized the chance and made a concerted effort to sign the 24-year-old.
