Giovani doesn't want to discuss Mexico exclusion

After the Mexico national team's manager Juan Carlos Osorio, presented the preliminary list of players who will represent their country in the next Copa America Centenario, Giovani dos Santos wasn't on the list just like Carlos Vela and Marco Fabian weren't. But different to the last two mentioned, Giovani did receive a call-up and he declined it. Arguing that he just wasn't disposed to play for Mexico, many assure that this is revenge from Gio after not being called-up since Osorio stepped in last year.

When he is questioned about his decision, Gio doesn't like to talk about the matter, he confirmed that he has no idea why Osorio hadn't called him up since October. But this seems clearly like a way of responding to the manager for ignoring him for so long, Gio wasn't a part of the steady pace Mexico is having in the World Cup qualifiers, this hurt Giovani and now his response is this one.

Talking to SiriusXM FC, Giovani said: "I don't want to talk right now about it. I knew this was going to happen. Why he hadn't called me before? I don't know. I don't really know him. I just try to do my work for my team. I know I haven't been in the national team for a while but you just try to keep focused on the pitch. I came here to improve my football and be happy."

Giovani also tweeted via his official Twitter account: "I am deeply grateful to the FMF [Mexican Football Federation] for considering me. I cannot participate at this time, but my heart will always be with you. I hope to return with great enthusiasm to wear the shirt of my beloved country. To Juan Carlos Osorio and my brothers of the Mexican team, I wish you an excellent tournament with much encouragement and success."
