Girona's Champions League troubles continue

After Michel Sanchez's team lost 1-0 on the road at Sturm Graz, Girona has now lost four of their last five games in their first Champions League campaign. Girona dominated the first half, despite the fact that neither team produced many opportunities. Ivan Martin had the finest one, but he missed the target from inside the six-yard box. In the second half, Mika Biereth, a former striker for Arsenal, gave Sturm Graz the lead on the hour mark.

The rest of the game would be dominated by Girona, but they couldn't get an equalizer in Austria. Late in the game, substitute Cristhian Stuani had two excellent opportunities but failed to convert either. As a result, Girona's rankings in the league phase are still at three points. Their next game is against Liverpool at Montilivi, and they have very little chance of moving forward at this point.
