Granada's commendable 2-0 win over ten-man Cadiz

Having suffered their 12th campaign loss to rival Andalusian powerhouse Sevilla, Granada were determined to begin the new year with a bang, with only undefeated Almeria facing worse setbacks.

After Lucas Boye was ejected for a handball during the play that led to his goal, the Nazaries finally slaked their appetite to score the opening goal. Instead, Boye provided the assist a few seconds later with a header from a freekick, and Myrto Uzuni scored his sixth goal of the year by tapping in the first from close range. Uzuni, who was always there to pose a threat to the visitors, then almost missed a one-on-one opportunity to score his second goal, clearly wasting it under pressure. Cadiz rallied towards the end of the half and nearly earned a weak penalty, but referee Juan Pulido denied the visitors a chance from the spot before halftime, dashigning their chances of a third straight H2H clean sheet.
