Guardiola hails Philipp Lahm as a club legend

Philipp Lahm can be considered as one of Germany's most valuable players in history, he has won literally every trophy there is to win. Last World Cup when the Germans defeated Argentina, he wrote his name next to the other skippers who lifted the coveted trophy, he has also won the Champions League and many league titles with Bayern. One of those players who have been faithful to a single side throughout their whole career. For this and many other things, Lahm is very well respected in German football.

When Pep Guardiola arrived in Bayern, his first impression with Lahm was so incredible that he quickly turned him into the team leader. The player's response to his unquestionable support was fierce, when Guardiola was attacked there was Lahm always to defend him from critics. That's why during the celebrations of Pep's last title with Bayern, he dedicated some fond words for the skipper.

Talking to Bild, Guardiola said: "Bayern have had legends such as Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, Uli Hoeness and Kalle Rummenigge. For me, Philipp Lahm is at the same level as those legends. He is the perfect captain for Bayern and has helped me a lot both on and off the pitch. He is the only right-back in the world who can dominate play from his position. He always plays well. I have not seen Lahm play a single poor game over the past three seasons."
