To the younger generations, remembering Alessandro del Piero might prove difficult because his best years were in the late 90's and early 2000's. But just to do you a solid we got you covered don't worry, we are talking about one of Italy's most elegant players who ever lived. One of the very few who can be considered among the top notch Italian blood who were always a safe bet when you bought your ticket to watch a spectacular player doing spectacular things.
Just like Francesco Totti is for Roma today, Alessandro del Piero is for Juventus and will be for the rest of time. So it comes as a surprise that Gonzalo Higuain is looking to emulate what Del Piero did at Juventus because that is frankly impossible, 'Pinturicchio' as they called him, is simply irreplaceable. But Higuain can dream all he wants and give it a go at doing all Del Piero was able to do with the 'Old Lady', his heroic acts are still talked about in the streets of Turin.
During a Q & A with the Juve fans, Higuain said: "Del Piero is a player who I have always enjoyed watching. Del Piero has been an inspiration for me throughout my career."
Compatriot Paulo Dybala also talked about Higuain and how desperate he was to join Juventus: "I got to know Gonzalo in the national team, that's how our friendship began. We exchanged plenty of messages over the past few days and he told me how much he wanted to play here. He'll be happy now and we're delighted to welcome a footballer of his caliber to this club."
