Hugo Lloris declined a transfer to Lazio due to uncertainty over his position in the team. The seasoned Frenchman will keep looking at other possibilities throughout this window since he did not want to be the club's second-best player at the club in Rome. This year, Guglielmo Vicario has replaced Hugo Lloris as the No. 1 custodian at Tottenham, making Hugo Lloris no longer a certain starter. The Italian goalkeeper has played well in the first two games and was outstanding last weekend against Manchester United.

Lloris was already viewed as surplus to needs halfway through the previous campaign, when a string of clumsy performances cost Tottenham crucial points. The French veteran, who was injured at the end of last season, was not supposed to start as their No. 1 this one. When early Saudi interest materialised, Spurs had already opened their doors near an exit.
