Hummels pens his new contract with Bayern

The prodigal son returns after being away for so long, it was back in 2008 when Mats Hummels left his first club ever in order to seek fortune and someday return as a well respected player. He didn't just come back as a professional and a better player, he came back as one of the best players who play as centre backs in the world. Mats has finally fulfilled his childhood dream and became a brand new Bayern Munich player.

After having won two Bundesliga titles and reached many finals which he lost, including a Champions League final precisely against Bayern, Hummels has finally returned and was greeted by club's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: “We're delighted to welcome Mats back to FC Bayern. Not only are we strengthening our squad with a world-class centre-back, but also with a player who accepts responsibility and who is our own youth product. First of all we wish him a successful Euro 2016.”

Hummels also had some words about how difficult it was for him to leave Borussia Dortmund, a place where he met many good friends and transformed into the amazing player he is today: “Saying goodbye to Dortmund was difficult for me of course. It was similar to 2008, when it was the other way around. Now I'm looking forward to everything that awaits me at FC Bayern. I'm very excited.”
