Luka Modrić has reaffirmed his hunger for silverware after deciding to extend his stay at AC Milan, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport that his ambition to win trophies “burns just as brightly” as ever. Following a period of reflection after the World Cup, the Croatian midfielder chose to continue with the Rossoneri, praising the club’s recruitment strategy and the strong core maintained under new coach Ruben Amorim. Modrić said the squad’s blend of continuity and character gives him confidence heading into the new season.
He also addressed speculation surrounding Rafael Leão, stressing that the Portuguese forward remains a game‑changer and that keeping him would be “fantastic news” for the club, even though the decision ultimately rests with Leão and Milan.
Modrić closed by insisting he is not at Milan to enjoy the lifestyle but to compete for honours, whether the Scudetto or any other trophy, as he targets lifting silverware in a Milan shirt.
