Iniesta surprised by the Casillas-Del Bosque feud

In past weeks after manager Vicente del Bosque stepped down from the Spain manager seat, he revealed that Iker Casillas wasn't on his best behavior during the last Euros because of his substitute status. Nobody takes being a sub very well, but what Iker Casillas did against the technical staff and Vicente del Bosque was utterly rude and ungrateful given the past both Vicente and Iker have since the goalkeeper was a little boy.

They soon mend the differences and got over it, but many players from the Spanish national team were really surprised with everything that happened. One of the people who was most shocked was Andres Iniesta, who always saw the incredible relationship Casillas and Del Bosque had. He confessed to Marca of how surprised he was: "A little, at the start. But they settled the issue very quickly. They've known each other for a long time and I think they have a mutual respect for each other."

Iniesta also talked about former Barcelona goalkeeper Julen Lopetegui and his new job as the Spain boss: "The main thing is to wish him all the luck in the world, and that he can guide us closer again to the objectives that the national team have. He's a coach who has experience at international level, with the lower ages. He's also gained it at various clubs and he's been a player. As players, we have to transmit the idea that he has."

Finally, as a farewell for Del Bosque, Iniesta added:  "I don't think there's much left to be said. Vicente's era was one of the best possible sporting situations. It was a very good road for Spanish football."
