Inter defeated Como 2-0 at the San Siro thanks to goals from Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram in the second half, keeping them in step with the leaders at the top of Serie A. With the advantage of a game in hand against Gian Piero Gasperini's team, the Nerazzurri's victory put them three points behind leaders Atalanta in the standings with 37 points.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan skilfully combined with Denzel Dumfries before the latter sent his shot over the crossbar, but Inter's dominant first half was not rewarded. Three minutes prior to halftime, Simone Inzaghi's team came close to taking the lead, but Como custodian Pepe Reina comfortably stopped Federico Dimarco's feeble attempt. Soon after the restart, however, Augusto's head met Hakan Calhanoglu's precise corner from close range, giving the home team the goal their effort deserved.
