Inter defeated Fiorentina 2-1

Inter defeated Fiorentina 2-1 at the San Siro on Monday, and Marko Arnautovic's header in the second half put them within one point of Serie A leaders Napoli. Simone Inzaghi's team took full advantage of Napoli's 1-1 draw with Udinese on Sunday to maintain their chances of winning the Scudetto this season.

After Carlos Augusto's header from a corner kick struck the wall early in the game, the home team had a good start and was denied the first goal by the post. Four minutes later, Inter again hit the goal's frame. Lautaro Martinez met another tease from a corner, but his attempt went off the crossbar.  The hosts would, however, edge ahead in the 28th minute when Marin Pongracic inadvertently turned another Hakan Calhanoglu corner into his own net. But the visitors drew level just before the break after Matteo Darmian handled the ball inside the area, with Rolando Mandragora dispatching the spot-kick.
