The reigning MLS champions, Inter Miami, have undergone significant roster changes ahead of the new season. Both Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba retired following the club’s title-winning campaign, forcing Miami into the market specifically for a new left-back.
They have secured Sergio Reguilón, a Real Madrid academy graduate who rose to prominence during a successful 2019/20 loan at Sevilla. This performance earned him a €30 million move to Tottenham, where he made an immediate impact with 68 appearances over two years. However, his career later stalled. A loan to Atletico Madrid proved difficult, offering under 300 minutes under Diego Simeone, while subsequent spells at Manchester United and Brentford failed to restore his momentum.
Released by Tottenham, Reguilón now starts a fresh chapter in the MLS. He aims to revive his career with Inter Miami, filling the void left by Alba while the side looks to build on their domestic success.
