In a closely contested Serie A encounter on Sunday, Lautaro Martinez's goal in the second half lifted Inter Milan to a 1-0 victory against AS Roma. At the hour mark, Martinez made the breakthrough by controlling the ball on the outskirts of the area and then putting it into the net. Roma is currently in tenth place with ten points, while Inter is presently second in the table with 17 points, two behind leaders Napoli.
Both teams had plenty of opportunities to break the scoreless first half, but superb stops from Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar and Inter rival Yann Sommer kept the scoreless first half in check. After suffering what appeared to be an injury after 12 minutes, Italy international Francesco Acerbi replaced Inter's Hakan Calhanoglu on the pitch. After Martinez's score, both teams fought to take the lead.
