As reported by FCInterNews in the print edition of the Milan-based publication Gazzetta dello Sport, which was released today. According to them, Cristian Chivu's position on the Inter bench is crucial. Giovanni Leoni, a defender, has long been a target for Inter Milan.

As early as last summer, the Nerazzurri had expressed interest in signing the Italy Under-21 player. A deal to sign him from Sampdoria had been negotiated. But Parma was the one who was able to sign the young defender. It's safe to say that Parma was successful in signing Leoni. The teenage defender was signed by the Emilian club last summer for a reported €7 million. According to reports, they would now anticipate receiving €30 million for the 19-year-old's sale. A lot of that explosion in form owes to the role that Leoni had under Cristian Chivu.
