Inter took advantage of the Rossoneri losing at Spezia to put even more distance between the two teams in Serie A. Inter already had one foot in the Champions League final after defeating city rivals Milan 2-0 in the first leg on Wednesday. Lukaku gave the home team the lead with a long-range goal, Ruan scored into his own goal, Lautaro Martinez scored off a deflection, and the Nerazzurri won their sixth straight game overall.
The mid-table visitors got goals back from Matheus Henrique and Davide Frattesi, but Romelu Lukaku scored a fourth goal late to give Simone Inzaghi's team the lead with three games left and move them up to third place, five points ahead of Milan in fifth. Four minutes before halftime, Lukaku's long-range shot went into the top corner, making up for the missed efforts by Henrique and Frattesi to give the visitors the lead.
