Iraq is placed alongside Saudi Arabia and Indonesia in Group B of the Asian playoff qualifiers for the World Cup. The team is preparing to face its opponents on October 11 and 14, respectively.
Iraqi national team coach Graham Arnold announced the official squad for the Asian playoff matches qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, where Iraq will face Indonesia on October 11 of this month, and then meet Saudi Arabia on the 14th in Jeddah.
Graham Arnold: “I truly believe in this squad, a team with both experience and energy, ready to fight for Iraq. We’re going out to achieve what hasn’t been done in 40 years: World Cup qualification.”
The list saw the absence of Mohammed Qassem for technical reasons, and Ali Al-Hamadi due to unfitness, while Ammar Mohsen's name emerged as a surprise in the forward position.
