Sky Sports reported Saturday that the deal is currently "on hold." The delay stems from the 29-year-old Ukrainian needing to finalize severance terms with his parent club, Arsenal FC. Ajax view Zinchenko as the perfect left-back addition. Personal terms are agreed on a six-month contract, and the player had already travelled to Amsterdam for medicals.
However, the move is frozen until he settles outstanding financial and specific bureaucratic issues with the Gunners. Currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, Zinchenko is expected to have that temporary spell terminated early. Unlike his current arrangement, Ajax fully intends to sign him permanently from Arsenal. Once London gives the green light, Ajax will complete the medicals and paperwork. Zinchenko is set to sign for six months initially, with his long-term future to be re-evaluated during the coming summer.
