As it was expected from the Italian National team, they completely dominated the Belgian National team because of their vast experience in major tournaments like this. As of right now, we can easily say that they can be considered as one of the top title contenders despite being the overly defensive team many hate and a lot more adore. The Belgian side had the toughest time of their 2016 season against Antonio Conte's team, they weren't able to perform at a great.
On the 31st minute, Giaccherini took Bonucci's long pass in his stride and slotted the ball past Courtois from close range. They surprised the Belgian National team who looked really powerful on paper with their starting eleven featuring world class players such as Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. But they were shooting way too many blanks throughout the 90 minutes, Italy's experience was much more than Belgium's quality.
To seal the deal before the final whistle, Graziano Pelle scored the second goal near the end after a beautiful combination where Candreva took his time before chipping in a cross that Pelle blasted on the volley from close range. This Italian side may arguably look like the most powerful and convincing of the bunch, they got past Belgium like it was nothing. Marc Wilmots will need to fix a lit of details for the second match of the group.
