Among the many bad news for Chelsea this week, the Blues have lost both Diego Costa and Eden Hazard for at least two weeks due to injuries which happened against Paris Saint Germain last Wednesday. The Champions League match was highly expected by many of the fans, but at the end they were not able to get back from the first leg 2-1 defeat in Paris having to hold their ground against a very powerful French squad that didn't really suffer to defeat them.
Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic is aware that both Diego Costa and Eden Hazard's injuries affected the team's performance. But despite the loss, he defended both players by hailing Eden Hazard for giving the best performance is his current season regardless of the injury he had before the game. Ivanovic revealed that both players were injured before the match started but they didn't want to miss the match against PSG.
“It’s not an excuse, but people have to think about the fact Eden started the game injured. Did that show how committed he is? Yes. Of course when you lose a game the fans are not happy and they have to be like that. But in my opinion it was one of his best performances so far. He was very strong and quick. He wanted to score and had a couple of actions where he looked like last season.
“Diego started the game injured and did everything to be on the pitch. He did an amazing job, scored a goal and when you see your main striker, main threat, go off the pitch then of course it’s difficult. We hope it’s nothing serious. We have what is now like a final for us (against Everton in the FA Cup) in a couple of days and we hope everything is good."
