According to reports from last week, Las Palmas was looking to sign the 21-year-old on a loan for the upcoming season, and it was implied that a deal would be nearly finalised. Later reports, however, suggested that this was untrue and that Araujo was eager to prove himself to Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez throughout the preseason in order to remain with the team. But according to Achraf Ben Ayad, Araujo may have changed his mind given that his playing time would likely be constrained in the following season.
In addition to the Mexican international, Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto, and Sergino Dest are alternatives for Barça at right-back at the moment. Nevertheless, it should be emphasised that Dest may be sold if a good offer comes up. Even so, Joao Cancelo, Pablo Maffeo, and Ivan Fresneda are all potential targets for the La Liga winners as they search for a new right-back.
