The DFB has confirmed Julian Nagelsmann’s departure as Germany manager following the shock World Cup elimination against Paraguay, ending days of intense speculation. After reports from Sky Sport and Bild surfaced early Friday, the federation announced shortly after midday that Nagelsmann had stepped down, citing a confidential meeting in which he acknowledged the squad’s “disappointing progress.” The DFB added that its supervisory board unanimously approved the termination at president Bernd Neuendorf’s request.
Attention now shifts to Jurgen Klopp, widely viewed as the frontrunner to succeed him. The former Liverpool manager, currently holding a senior role within the Red Bull Group, has long hinted that the national team job is the only project capable of drawing him back to coaching. Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that negotiations will begin soon, with Klopp having previously secured a release clause tailored specifically for a Germany vacancy.
