Juventus defeated Brest 2-2 in a friendly match, with goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Danilo, but it was another lackluster display. At the Stadio Adriatico in Pescara, coach Thiago Motta deployed a 4-3-3 system for the second pre-season friendly after a crushing 3-0 loss to FC Nurnberg.

Michele Di Gregorio demonstrated why he was selected for this novel strategy by practicing playing out from the back and occasionally taking some chances in order to function as a sweeper-keeper. Tim Weah made a long-range stop, and Vlahovic missed a corner kick from Andrea Cambiaso. Shortly after the restart, Camara beat replacement goalkeeper Mattia Perin to put Brest ahead. After Martin awkwardly pulled down Manuel Locatelli, Vlahovic scored a penalty to tie the game. Douglas Luiz came on and made an immediate impact, stinging the goalkeeper’s gloves, before providing the assist that sent Danilo clear on goal.
