Juventus lost 2-1 against Lazio, managed by former manager Maurizio Sarri. Juventus lost some of the momentum they had gained in recent weeks. Despite a better performance in the second half, goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Mattia Zaccagni on either side of Adrien Rabiot's equaliser clinched the tie for the hosts.
Due to the flu, head coach Massimiliano Allegri was unable to travel to the capital. However, assistant Marco Landucci traveled with the side. There was quite a lot of drama on the field on the opening goal, as it seemed like Milinkovic-Savic pushed Alex Sandro before receiving the ball and scoring, later it was overturned in Lazio's favor. Then, Juve improved their performance in the second half thanks to a change to a back-four after the first half but still could not overthrow a strong Lazio on the opposite side. Juve would have gained ground on Lazio with the win as well as the top four teams, but that opportunity was squandered.
