With a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina, Juventus closed the deficit on Serie A leaders Inter Milan to two points. Fabio Miretti scored the sole goal, heading Filip Kostic's cross into the bottom corner. The 20-year-old, who has been with Juventus since he was eight, scored his first senior goal. Juventus has now gone six games without conceding a goal.

A group of Fiorentina fans skipped the game in protest, believing it should not have taken place at a time when the Tuscany area is reeling from terrible floods caused by Storm Ciaran. A minute's silence was observed before all Serie A matches this weekend in memory of the deaths. In Florence, the two teams, which are generally bitter rivals, came together to express their support. Fiorentina slid to ninth place, level on points with Roma, who beat Lecce 2-1 in extra time.
