Kane’s Ballon d’Or celebration set for der Klassiker

Harry Kane will return to action for Bayern Munich on Wednesday against Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal, but the club will wait until Saturday’s “Der Klassiker” against Borussia Dortmund for the main Ballon d’Or celebration.

Kane returned to Munich on Tuesday after winning football’s most prestigious individual award and will be included in Bayern’s squad for the cup tie, assistant coach Aaron Danks confirmed. Danks praised the striker’s achievement, highlighting the recognition it brings to both Kane and Bayern, while joking that the forward is already focused on his next challenge.

However, Bayern have confirmed that Wednesday’s match will only include a special reception for Kane. The official presentation of the Ballon d’Or to the home supporters will instead take place at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

The timing promises a spectacular occasion, with Bayern welcoming Borussia Dortmund for one of the biggest fixtures in German football, in front of a packed stadium.
